His Excellency Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment

His Excellency Dr. Eang Sophalleth, Minister of Environment, attended the 20th National Fish Day ceremony, which was presided over by Samdech Moha Bovorteapdei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and Dr. Pich Chanmony Hun Manet. The ceremony took place at Boeng Tonle Bati, Thnal Takseang Village, Krang Thnong Commune, Bati District, Takeo Province, on the morning of July 1, 2025.

On this occasion, millions of baby fish were released into Boeng Tonle Bati to raise public awareness about the conservation and sustainable development of fisheries resources, with the aim of increasing fish stocks, ensuring food security, and supporting the livelihoods of the people.

It is worth noting that Boeng Tonle Bati is approximately 7 km in length, 1 km in width, and 7 meters deep. It is home to over 20 species of fish and aquatic animals, with an estimated population of 1.5 million, including trey pra (Channa), trey po (catfish), trey chpin (carp), trey kahae (clown featherback), trey kolreang, turtles, frogs, freshwater prawns, and more.
